Dubai: The body of a sailor drowned in Ajman after his ship sank on way to Iran was found by Dubai police, according to an official.

Lt. Colonel Abdullah Al Mazioud, director of Ports police station in Dubai, told reporters that police found the body of one sailor and rescued two others.
The ship had six Indian sailors on board and was planning to bring diesel. The search for other three sailors who are still missing is on, said Colonel Al Mazioud.
The ship, owned by an Indian and flying the flag of Malaysia, sank on 23 of December, according to alerts received at the ports centre in Ajman. “The ports centre tried to contact the ship but there was no response from the sailors,” he said.
The sailors however did contact the owner of the ship right after leaving the port. “The sailors told the owner that they want to return to Ajman after passing more than 10 nautical miles but then they lost contact,” he said.
He added that the search operations started late in Dubai because of the delay in being alerted by Ajman police.
“The body of one of the sailors was found and two sailors were found alive. The sailors kept their passports safe with them while they were in the waters for three days,” Colonel Al Mazioud said.
