Mother and two daughters drown in Dubai Marina area
Investigators ruled out criminal intent, but declined to provide more details
M.S., a young Syrian mother, and her two daughters ages three years and six months, were found dead close to a five-star hotel near Dubai Marina.
A police source told XPRESS: “The incident occurred on Monday. Initially we couldn’t identify the bodies because none of them had any identification papers on them.”
Investigators ruled out criminal intent, but declined to provide more details.
It was not immediately clear what time of day the incident took place or where the father was when it happened.
Identification
Police eventually got in touch with the husband, H.S., who identified his wife and children.
It is believed that the family had recently moved from Mirdiff to Dubai Marina.
According to a family friend, the mother and her girls were taking a walk on the beach when the three-year-old ran too close to the rocks and got stuck between them. It proved fatal for the three.
Mother jumps in
The mother, who was holding her six-month-old daughter, attempted to get into the water to rescue the three-year-old girl, but something went wrong and they couldn’t get out of the water and drowned.
The family friend also stated that CCTV footage from a nearby five-star hotel recorded the mother and her girls on the beach shortly before the accident.
The mother and her two girls were buried on Wednesday.
