Ras Al Khaimah: Two Arab boys celebrating the end of examinations and the start of the mid-year vacations, sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Saqr Hospital when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a heavy vehicle in Al Filayah area yesterday.
A senior officer at the emirate's Traffic and Licensing Department said the two victims, a 17-year- -old Syrian and his 18-year-old Lebanese friend were thrown from the motorcycle.
The officer said initial investigations into the accident showed the Asian driver entered the main street from a side road without paying attention to the traffic flow. The police arrested him and summoned a few eyewitnesses.
Meanwhile, a speeding car driven by an Asian hit a 13-year-old Emirati on Monday on Shaikh Rashid Street.

In another part of the city yesterday, a taxi, driven by an Asian national, slammed into a donation tent of the UAE Red Crescent near the Ship Roundabout on Al Faisal Street.
