University honours Zayed Foundation
The Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works was honoured on Wednesday by the Arabian Gulf University for its support of education at both regional and international levels.
Manama: The Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works was honoured on Wednesday by the Arabian Gulf University for its support of education at both regional and international levels.
The ceremony was attended by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and Shaikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince of Bahrain, as well as a number of shaikhs and top officials. The Foundation also instituted the Dh5 million Zayed chair for postgraduate ecological sciences. More than 19 students with a masters degree graduated from the programme.
Director General of the Foundation Salim Al Daheri, who received the certificate of appreciation from the University President Dr Rafea Gobash, said the foundation has so far offered over Dh228.5 million in support of education and higher education worldwide.
The Arab World received Dh27.7 million, Africa got Dh18.4 million and Asia received Dh7.5 million.
