Abu Dhabi: Six schools are to close forever by the end of the current academic year due to the unsafe condition of these schools. Offence tickets have been issued to several other schools by the Abu Dhabi Municipality.
The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City called on all private educational institutions in Abu Dhabi to comply with the school buildings’ safety standards and urged all parents to report any unsafe condition that jeopardise public safety.
The Municipality launched a campaign in cooperation with the General Directorate of the Civil Defence - Abu Dhabi, to inspect the so-called "villa schools" following complaints from parents regarding safety standards.
"The Campaign has actually revealed offences posing risks to students’ safety, breaching the health conditions and the approved engineering standards of buildings", said Awaidah Al Qubaisi, Acting Executive Director.
