Sharjah ruler opens medical complex

Sharjah: The Sharjah Medical Excellence Compound was inaugurated Saturday, coinciding with the graduation of students from Sharjah University's Colleges of Medicine and Medical Science.
His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the ceremony to mark the graduation of the new batch of students.
Shaikh Sultan congratulated the students on their achievements and wished them success in their professional life.
Shaikh Sultan urged the graduates to make more efforts and pursue studies to expand the scope of their knowledge and gain more experience, saying that "education has no limits and is a lifetime process."
Shaikh Sultan announced that annual scholarships would be offered to those students who want to pursue higher education.
State of the art
Marking the graduation of the new batch of physicians and dentists, Shaikh Sultan inaugurated an integrated medical complex called the Sharjah Medical Excellence Compound.
The Dh1 billion state-of-the-art compound comprises four medical colleges — the Sharjah Medical Research Institute, Sharjah Clinical and Surgical Training Centre, the University Hospital and the University Dental Hospital.
The new facility has the latest hi-tech equipment, and medical experts from the US, Canada, Europe, Australia and other countries have been recruited.
Shaikh Sultan toured outpatient clinics of the University Hospital, the children's ward, and intensive care unit for premature babies, microbiology section, surgical operation section, and post-surgery recovery unit.
Shaikh Sultan then headed to the University Dental Hospital where he unveiled the plaque and toured dental clinics, X-ray and radiology section and operation room.
