Schools to remain closed for 12 days
Classes will resume on December 14 after Eid Al Adha and National Day holidays.
Dubai: All public and private schools will remain closed for 12 days for the UAE National Day and the Eid Al Adha holidays, announced the Ministry of Education on Monday.
All the schools that apply the curriculum of the Ministry of Education will have holidays from December 2 to 13. Classes at schools will resume on Sunday, December 14.
Circular
In cooperation with the education zones, education councils, the Education ministry announced it in a circular adding that schools should compensate the additional holidays at the end of the academic year.
The decision does not apply to the schools which do not follow the Ministry of Education curriculum. However, the ministry official said the ministry would not have any objection if they follow the same number of holidays provided they hold additional classes to make up for the additional off days. In normal situation, they will have two days off for the National Day and then for the Eid Al Adha holidays which will be announced by the government later.
Rashid Lakraibani Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Ministry of Education, said: "The ministry took this decision to incorporate holidays after a thorough study and consultations with the education councils and education zones and in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education."
