Push for education research project
His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday viewed the contents and objectives of the International Project for Educational Research, launched by the Ministry of Education in the framework of its carrying out the special strategy of developing educational methods, curriculum and outcomes in the UAE.

Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Thursday viewed the contents and objectives of the International Project for Educational Research, launched by the Ministry of Education in the framework of its carrying out the special strategy of developing educational methods, curriculum and outcomes in the UAE.
Shaikh Mohammad emphasised during the meeting with Gene Carter, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD)'s CEO, held yesterday at Marmoum rest house, on the importance of establishing the culture of educational and scientific studies and research amidst students from the very first scholastic classes.
Shaikh Mohammad pointed out that a new generation utilizing scientific and methodical systems will soon emerge, depending on model and modern ways in education and research.
Shaikh Mohammad also called upon the people carrying out the UAE project suopervised by ASCD, at the Ministry of Education to focus on spreading awareness in the classroom and motivating students to use new mechanisms in learning, all of which go hand in hand with modern education requirements and building an educational oriented society away from classical methods of learning by heart without understanding and analysing the content of the curriculum.
Shaikh Mohammad also said that the UAE's leadership and government has set the developing of both the educational sector and human being as a prime priority, in the context of the government's strategy.
Investing in man is a strategic policy, and all concerned departments will cooperate and coordinate efforts to reach this high national target.
Hanif Hassan, Minister of Education said that after receiving the backing and support of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Shaikh Mohammad, the project will be the first of its kind in the whole region because it depends on applying scientific research methods in UAE schools and other schools in the area that want to make use of it.
Hassan also said that the project includes a number of research units such as the early childhood development unit , the teacher's skills unit , IT, communication and others.
Also attending the meeting were Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Group, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and other senior officials.
