Abu Dhabi: Special needs students started their mid-year exams last Sunday in all special needs centres run by the Zayed Higher Organisation for Humanitarian Care, Special Needs and Minors' Affairs in Abu Dhabi.
Mariam Saif Al Qubaisi, Head of the special needs department in the organisation, toured a number of centres yesterday.
"The exams are going well in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Abu Dhabi Education Zone which are working together to integrate more special needs students into general schools," said Mariam.
Training session
Special needs exams were conducted by special teachers in the centres and reviewed by an educational supervisor to check they were following the necessary standards.
Recently the organisation set up a training session for special needs teachers on how to select and set exam questions.
"Integrating special needs students in government schools is in progress, a number of special needs students have joined public schools already and more will soon join them," added Mariam.
