Ministry of Education introduces new curriculum with 14 additional subjects
The Ministry of Education (MoE) announced the introduction of 14 new topics in the new curriculum for the upcoming academic year.

Abu Dhabi The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced that it has revised its curriculum to teach 14 subjects to various grades of pupils. The decision will take effect by the next academic year (September 2008).
It is applicable among all public schools and certain private schools that follow the MoE curriculum.
Director of the curriculum at the MoE, Kholoud Al Qasimi, told Gulf News that the new curriculum was more visual, developed and modern, and in line with international standards.
"The new curriculum concentrates on a student's performance, not just the teachers. Students will be monitored closely and asked to take responsibility and take part in various public speeches and community work. Contrary to how it used to be, where teachers were given full responsibility in classrooms," she said.
Developing
The MoE has been working on developing curriculums in schools since 2001.
"The decision to improve our curriculum is not a new one. We took the decision in 2001, but were working on it step-by-step so that we could add new techniques to all 14 subjects all at once," she said.
The previous curriculum was tailor-made for students from grades 1 to 11. With the new curriculum, grades 12 will also have their own curriculum.

The following subjects will be part of the new curriculum among the following grades:
Islamic Studies and Music and Fine Arts: 7th, 8th, 9th, 11th, 12th grade
Arabic Language: 6th and 12th grade
Science and Social Study: 7th grade
Geography and History: 11th grade
Mathematics: 7th and 9th grade
English, Geology and Psychology: 12th grade
Economics: 11th and 12th grade
Social study: 7th grade
Anthropology: 11th grade
