Ministry denies sacking teachers for their beliefs
A senior official at the Ministry of Education denied dismissing any teachers in the UAE.
Abu Dhabi: A senior official at the Ministry of Education denied dismissing any teachers in the UAE. He was reacting to protests staged by some teachers at the ministry claiming to have been dismissed for their beliefs.
Mohammad Bin Hindi, Executive Director for Institution and Supportive Services in the ministry, said these were administrative transfers made by the ministry in accordance with the rules.
He said the ministry considers teachers the cornerstone of the learning process, and is always keen to improve their skills and performance.
"The ministry placed efforts to increase the efficiency of teachers on top of its strategic plan to help further build a well-qualified generation that can keep pace with the latest and most effective educational systems," Bin Hindi said.
The teachers were transferred in accordance with the requirements of the strategic plan, said Bin Hindi. He wondered why the teachers attempted to mix intellectual views in such an issue. The transfers were made within the ministry itself and between different educational sectors, he added.
"Any plan to develop and restructure government institutions, especially such as the education sector, requires transfers and replacements from time to time," Bin Hindi said. "The ministry is keen that these transfers will not have any negative effect on the teachers."
The ministry is willing to look into any complaints by teachers, but without exaggeration or violating the values and rules of UAE society, he added.
