Dubai: The Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with Intel to help train two million teachers in the Arab world.
Under the programme, Intel will help provide online training over the next four years via its Teach project. The programme also aims to increase computer usage and online Arab content.
The agreement was signed by Mohammad Al Gergawi, the foundation's chairman and Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and Dr Craig Barrett, Intel's chairman.
Barrett said education was critical to a competitive national economy. "In the long term, you need a highly educated work force," he said.
Al Gergawi said in a statement that the partnership paves the way for critical thinking and digital fluency in the Arab world.
How do you think this initiative would impact the standards of education in the region? Should more multinational corporations be involved in such social programs? Why?
Your comments
Again, His Highness shows that not only does he care for the wellbeing and development of the great UAE, but also the entire Arab and Islamic nation, and the globe as a whole. Such initiatives would most definitely increase the much needed technical knowledge amongst the Arab nation, it would also increase creativity and be as a strong motive for others to use and learn from such great deeds. Other corporations like software premieres and operating system leaders should be involved in such activities.
