Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of Hamdan Bin Mohammad e-University (HBMeU), yesterday presented bachelor's and master's degrees to 152 students — the first batch of graduates.

The graduates included 33, who earned bachelor's degrees, and 119 others who completed various other postgraduate programmes.

Addressing the graduates, Shaikh Hamdan said: "I can see that you are proud of your achievement which reflects your determination to excel and build your future in the service of your nation and leadership and people."

Shaikh Hamdan watched a documentary on the university's progress which began in 2009. The graduation ceremony was held at the university premises in the Dubai Academic City.

Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Chief and Chairman of the university's board of trustees, praised the attention given by the university to e-education.

Years of hard work

He said the institution was a pioneer in the field of e-education in the region, as it is the first e-university to attain an accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and is committed to providing the highest standards of education.

The graduation marks another milestone in the university's years of hard work and continuing efforts to provide the highest level of education which follows the best international practices.

At the end of the celebration, the graduates pledged their loyalty to their leadership and their allegiance to their nation and their people.
