Exams begin for CBSE students
Over 14,700 students will appear for the Central Board of Secondary School examination (CBSE) for Grade 10 and Grade 12 on Wednesday.
Dubai: Over 14,700 students will appear for the Central Board of Secondary School examination (CBSE) for Grade 10 and Grade 12 on Wednesday.
The exams will start at 9 am but the students will be handed over the question papers at 8.45 am.
The 15 minutes is a "cool down" or "de-stress" time declared by the board this year to provide students time to go through their question paper thoroughly before the start of the examination.
Each paper will carry 24 to 28 questions.
The examinations will be held in 37 centres for Grade 10 and 32 centres for Grade 12. Oman, Dubai, Bahrain, Tehran, Riyadh and Abu Dhabi are some of the exam centres in the Gulf.
"Admission cards have been distributed. The ministry of external affairs is also providing us with assistance," said Dharmapal Singh, joint director, CBSE.
He said the number of candidates this year had gone up by 6.26 per cent. The total number of candidates from India and overseas is about 1.1 million.
"We are also in touch with the Indian embassies in the Gulf countries. The missions will deploy one person as observer for the examinations," said Singh. "There will be no surprise checks by the exam flying squad this year."
Visually challenged students would get alternative questions in case of questions with visual inputs for economics in Grade 12.
