Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) will send 60 Emirati university students to Dresden, Germany, for a summer internship programme after workshops in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Sharjah.
The training programme gives the students insight into semiconductor and other high-tech industries.
Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, the director general of Adec, said that the step will help Emirati students contribute positively to the development and progress of their country in line with the Abu Dhabi government strategy 2030.
Emirati students are encouraged to contribute in engineering disciplines such as chemical, electrical, mechanical, electronics, computers, material science, and physics, and economics.
The deadline for receipt of applications is set to be January 14, 2010. On February 10, Adec will announce the names of students selected for interviews in Sharjah, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi on February 15, 16 and 17 respectively.
Orientation
Adec will be organising an orientation course for the selected candidates on June 16 in Abu Dhabi.
"Sending students to world countries such as Australia, Canada, Britain, New Zealand, Japan, Germany and others during the past years to gain knowledge, experience and enhance their skills expresses the eagerness of our leadership to provide our students with world class knowledge and experience," Dr Al Khaili said.
