Modern High School student scores 99.5%, believed to be highest in the history of the exams

Dubai: A Dubai-based grade 12 student Rohan Sampath has set a world record by scoring an aggregate of 99.5 per cent as the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations declared results for Grade 10 and Grade 12 on Sunday.
Sampath scored 100 per cent in Mathematics, 100 per cent in Physics, 100 per cent in Computer Science and 98 per cent in English, becoming the first student to do it in the history of ISC exams, according to his school.
The 18-year-old, who has studied in Dubai Modern High School since kindergarten, credits his parents and teachers for his incredible success.
"I think my parents and teachers should get a major part of the credit, as well as the senior leadership team of the school and my friends. All of them have played an important role in my success," said Sampath.
Sampath said he is on cloud nine after his achievement and he couldn't believe it when he first saw the marks.
"I'm on clound nine and a half. But I'm also quite humbled, being treated like a celebrity is a bit embarrassing," added Sampath.
All-round excellence
According to his father Sampath Srinivasan, Sampath has always been academically excellent, but that has never been his only focus.
"He is very balanced in his approach and gives equal importance to diffrent aspects of learning. Apart from academics, he also participates in extra-curricular activities like debating. He is also a good tennis player and swimmer," said Srinivasan, listing his son's achievements.
Sampath's achievements stands out by the fact that he never went for private coaching classes and says there is no secret formula for success.
