Dubai: Two Dubai-based churches yesterday donated a total of Dh50,000 to the Dubai Cares campaign.

Shaikh Rashid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum received yesterday donations of Dh25,000 from the King's Revival Church and another Dh25,000 from St Thomas Orthodox Church.

Presenting the cheque, Dr V. Dilkumar, Senior Overseeing Pastor, acknowledged the noble gesture by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in initiating the Dubai Cares campaign.

Motivation

He said: "The charity drive has evoked the noble thought of sharing and caring. It has motivated us to come forward and generously donate to help the less fortunate.

"We are honoured to play our part in this campaign that shines as a beacon of hope to children and families that truly deserve a chance."

The campaign, launched during Ramadan, has surpassed all expectations by raising funds over Dh1 billion.

Dubai Cares campaign contributes to a global drive to help countries achieve their UN Millennium Development Goals of providing primary education to every child by 2015.
