Bank to build and operate 15 schools for Dubai Cares

Dubai: A Dh21 million donation to build and operate 15 schools in developing countries was announced yesterday, bringing the total amount raised for Dubai Cares to Dh840 million.

Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum yesterday met with Sa'ad Abdul Razzaq, Group Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB) Group, who announced a Dh21 million donation on behalf of the group.

"This contribution comes in response to His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who called on the nation's financial institutions to participate in this humanitarian effort," Abdul Razzaq said.

The donation follows the directives of Dr Mohammad Khalfan Bin Kharbash, Minister of State for Financial and Industrial Affairs and Chairman of Dubai Islamic Bank, who stressed the group's obligation to respond to Shaikh Mohammad's call to help provide basic education to children in poverty-stricken countries.

"Dubai Cares gives hope to millions of children by helping them obtain access to primary education, which will benefit them now and in the future," said Abdul Razzaq. "It is important for all of us to work hard to help provide solutions to these global problems."
