Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) section held its first training session for EHS representatives across 20 public and private schools in the emirate of Abu Dhabi on IOSH Managing Safely, an accredited and certified course from the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) in the United Kingdom.
The Adec initiative ensures a smooth, efficient and effective implementation of the EHSMS (Environment, Health and Safety Management System) requirements that were launched in March 2012.
The course is designed to help build capacities, knowledge and competencies for EHS representatives in schools, while helping them manage the implementation of environment, health and safety management systems as per EHSMS education requirements and the Abu Dhabi Regulatory Framework.
The training sessions will be offered to one representative from each school over the course of the year. It will entail 22 training sessions over a five-day-period for 452 trainees.
The second group of nominated entities to be trained includes nurseries, colleges and universities.
