Abu Dhabi: The Board of Trustees at the Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has been restructured to include a number of ministers and high-profile members representing significant areas of development and growth in the UAE.
ADU was chartered as a private institution of higher learning in 2000 under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and President of the University of Abu Dhabi Board of Trustees and Governors.
It currently serves 3,000 students at its two campuses in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
Shaikh Hamdan recently introduced the new board to enhance and support the role and mission of ADU as an academic leader and educational force anchored in the UAE community.
ADU Chairman, Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Daheri, said the new board will help shape the universities performance by benchmarking it with leading international universities and research organisations.
It will also ensure that appropriate programmes are developed in response to the changing market needs.

"His Highness's choice of these new elite members translates the University's mission and its goals, and its commitment to being an academic community of excellence, as well as a lantern for education reflecting on the business community, ensuring its demands and providing for its needs," he said.
