A massive fire raged last night in Sharjah's Port Khalid area, sending flames dozens of feet high late on Friday night.

Where you there when the fire took place? Do you know anyone affected by the blaze? Have you taken pictures of the scene?

The weak point that the whole incident has highlighted is that there is only one Civil Defence station in Sharjah, near the Zulekha Hospital. And given the congested roads of Sharjah, the response time of the fire fighters to reach the location of the fire was very long. Precautions to reduce the incidence of fire can be taken, but they cannot be brought down to zero. I recommend that they build a fire station at the Khalid Port as well as at the centre of the Sharjah Industrial Area, where the risk of fire is high.

I suggest the Ministry in Sharjah should reserve a professional team for this type of accident to handle the fire quickly and to save our country and world from getting polluted.

I witnessed the fire accidentally, since I was at my friend's apartment which is located just 500 meters away from the spot, opposite to the corniche. We noticed the flames around 11pm, when it reached heights. We were watching the scene for more than one hour and realised how fast the fire was spreading horizontally! The huge fire spheres with red and yellow mixed flames looked horrible. The atmosphere became very much darkened with fumes. People were standing and recording the scene from the road. The large fuel storage tanks near to the fire spot seemed to be within a chance of getting affected!

Even though this was a unique incident I am happy to know that the people who were very close to that area are safe! The fire fighters have understood their limitations to control the massive fire. I was rushing to this place when I saw the fumes hitting the sky at 1am.

The fire was so huge that I could see it from my apartment balcony on the Ajman Corniche road which is 7 km away from the port! I've never seen any fire this drastic. I hope no one is hurt.

We live just opposite of the creek and we have been witnessing the huge fire since yesterday 11.30pm until now - 10.30am. Never in my life I have seen such a disaster. My daughter's friend's father works there (now on vacation in Kerala) and their company lost everything. It is very sad. Fire fighters are trying hard to douse the fire. Billows of black smoke are still there.

Last night I got a call from a friend who lives on the 14th floor of our building that there was a major fire broke out at around 1am. I thought it was in our building but he said 'come upstairs, as it seems to be at port side.' I went up and saw massive smoke clouds and huge flames of fire. The scene was horrifying. I never saw such a huge fire before. The flames were higher than the buildings which were in our line of sight.

My house is opposite to the creek where this major fire broke out. It's something quite horrifying to see, I have never witnessed this kind of fire in my life before. It was kind of a carnival for people, they were wheeling around. People were coming in groups and they were shooting these fire scenes on their mobiles and unnecessarily blocking the roads and making a mess of traffic. Full praise for the fire fighters for their full efforts.

I went near the fire from the Al Khan area. The fire was really massive and dangerous there!

There were explosions and fire then explosions and fire...One warehouse became ashes in front of my eyes. One of the worst moments I have ever seen.

I witnessed the flames coming out of the port of the Khalid area of Sharjah and there were huge flames coming out of the port and a huge cloud of smoke was touching the sky. This was started approximately at 11:52 pm at night and the fire fighters were working hard to take control of the flames but it was very difficult because the fire had already spread out.
