Fujairah: The Fujairah Appeal Court has upheld a 13-month jail term for two Emirati youths for stealing and damaging electricity cables in Dibba Al Fujairah.

A similar sentence for a third convict was changed to time in a juvenile correctional facility, as the suspect was under the age of 16 at the time he committed the crime.

A.S.M and F.A.A., along with the juvenile accomplice, were arrested after an Emirati, S.KH., reported the theft of electricity cables from his under-construction villa in Dibba.

After arresting the gang, police were able to link them to 12 previous similar thefts in the area.

The three were charged with 13 counts of theft as well as causing damage to private property.

The Court of First Instances found the gang guilty of all charges and jailed them for one month for each count, totaling 13 months, with the terms commencing from the dates of their arrest.
