Dubai: A Pakistani suspect has denied the charge of molesting and dishonouring a woman by showing her a contraceptive and asking to have sex with her.

Prosecutors accused the 30-year-old unemployed Pakistani suspect of molesting the Emirati woman, breaching her privacy and dishonouring her.

"I am not guilty… I unintentionally drew my body very close to her body from the back. I didn't intend to touch or molest her. Plus, I didn't dishonour her or breach her modesty," said the defendant, M.A., when he defended himself at the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday.

According to the arraignment sheet, M.A. was charged with molesting the 45-year-old woman, T.T. He was also charged with verbally and physically dishonouring her by showing her a contraceptive and asking to sleep with her.

"He stood right behind me and glued his body to mine… I scolded him and then I advised him not to repeat what he did. The next day he showed me a contraceptive and asked to have sex with me. Thereafter, I reported the matter to the police," she said.

When the defendant appeared before Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad, he said: "I am innocent your honour… I am not guilty."

An Emirati first sergeant testified that he seized a box of contraceptives from the suspect's possession. Records did not clarify the connection between the suspect and the claimant. The place where the incident allegedly happened was not identified.
