Two jailed over bribe to obtain driving licence in Ras Al Khaimah

The court ordered the two sentenced Asians be deported after serving their jail terms

Ras Al Khaimah: Two men were jailed for three months each by the Ras Al Khaimah Criminal court today on charge of paying bribe to obtain driving license.

The court ordered the two sentenced Asians be deported after serving their jail terms, a Judiciary official told Gulf News.

The ruling was pronounced by Presiding Judge Yusuf Rajab on Monday after hearing the accused.

The court heard that one of the accused who was working as driving instructor at the Ras Al Khaimah driving institute, asked the other man, a trainee at the same school, to pay Dh3000 in order to obtain the driving license without performing the road test.

The two were arrested by the officers of the Criminal Investigation Department at Ras Al Khaimah following recieving a tip off on the incident, official added. The two were arrested while the trainee was paying the money for the instructor.

The instructor confessed that was charging desperate trainees at the school a Dh 3000 for light-vehicle license and Dh6000 for the license of heavy vehicle. He, however did not elaborate on how many license he had issued without a road test.
