Dubai: Two Bangladeshi men have been charged with kidnapping a 25-year-old housemaid from a street, tying her arms and legs and leaving her locked up in a flat.
"No, I am not guilty. That didn't happen," said one of the suspects, 22-year-old R.A., when he defended himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday.
Prosecutors charged R.A. and his 29-year-old accomplice, M.J., with kidnapping the housemaid, S.I., also a Bangladeshi, and locking her up in a flat in International City after tying her up with a plastic rope.
Prosecution records claim M.J. and R.A. kidnapped the girl by night and locked her in a flat adjacent to M.J.'s. They were charged with trespassing in the flat.
S.I. told prosecutors that she bought a visa from a travel agent in her country for almost Dh3,700.
"A person called Alam picked me from the airport. Over several weeks, Alam and another Asian man moved me from one flat to another and forced me to have sex with men. One day M.J. came to the flat and I realised that he is Bangladeshi… he promised to help me and gave me his number," claimed S.I.
Records said when the girl fled from a flat in International City, she called M.J. for help. "I stayed with M.J. for one month and a half… then he had sex with me. After he introduced me to R.A., they tried to force me to have sex with men. I resisted. Later they took me to another flat and tied me up and kept me locked up," she said.
Records said a Syrian executive heard S.I. calling for help from the window, before he reported the matter to police, who raided the flat and freed her.
