Dubai: Police arrested three suspects who attempted to burgle a famous shop at Al Rifa'a.

Brigadier Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Director General of the General Department for Criminal Investigation (CID), said the burglary attempt was made on August 28.

The three Bangladeshi suspects managed to enter the shop through a hole dug in the ceiling of the shop.

"The burglars lived in the floor above the shop in an apartment that they rented illegally," said Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Humaid Al Merri, Director of the CID division of Dubai Police.

"They skilfully dug a hole in their apartment floor all the way to the mezzanine floor which held the electronics department of that store. It took them three month to dig the hole and they used very sophisticated equipment," he said.

The suspects entered the shop after cutting out the electricity but the alarm went off because of the emergency generator in the store. They fled the site but were captured within 72 hours. The mastermind left his name and personal information with the insurance company that insured the drilling equipment which led to the culprits' arrest.
