Dubai: A shoe store manager will spend three months behind bars for stealing shoes worth Dh520. Dubai Court of First Instance found the 37-year-old Syrian manager, M.S., guilty of stealing the shoes, as charged by the Public Prosecution.
A 24-year-old Syrian salesman testified: "One day the accused, who is my roommate, offered to sell me the shoes but I refused it because I didn't need them. Then I saw them in the joint cupboard where we keep our belongings. I suspected that he stole them from the store. I phoned a colleague and asked him to check. Later, I was informed that shoes of the similar type were missing."
A 34-year-old Egyptian manager at the store testified: "The accused ... claimed that he was planning to pay for them later."
