Dubai: A student has claimed that he was "very drunk" and could not recall any details of attempting to sodomise a 12-year-old boy in Ski Dubai last November, a court heard on Monday.

"I had imbibed liquor and I don't recall any details of what happened," the 25-year-old Saudi suspect, S.B., told the Dubai Court of First Instance.

He was charged with attempting to have intercourse with the Omani boy in a public place. It is alleged he dragged the boy to a ski cave where he forced him to undress and attempted to sodomise him. When Presiding Judge Abdul Majid Al Nezamy repeatedly asked the suspect whether he was guilty or not, he said: "I don't remember anything... I was under the influence of liquor."

A Kenyan visitors' guide testified: "A group of boys, aged between 10 and 12, asked me to help their friend because someone had done something bad to him. I informed security and headed with the boys to the ski arena."
