Seven Central Jail inmates charged with raping fellow prisoner
Complainant claims he was threatened with a knife before the assault
Dubai: The Dubai Public Prosecutor has charged seven inmates, who allegedly raped another prisoner at Dubai Central Jail recently, of having sex with the man against his will, Gulf News has learned.
The bill of charges were issued by the public prosecutor and was handed to the accused last week in jail.
The seven will face trial at the criminal court.
The Syrian complainant, who was imprisoned at Al Aweer jail for a year, alleged that he was raped by the seven inmates after threatening him with a knife.
Solitary confinement
The incident happened in July and the 24-year-old complainant A.M., reported it to the police.
He was later transferred to solitary confinement. Police said A.M. was serving a one-year jail term for theft.
The rape allegation was reported to Al Hibab police station and was later investigated by public prosecutors.
According to the forensic laboratory report, the victim was raped several times.
Gulf News learnt that the complainant has already been deported.
