Samaha villa burgled in daylight operation
More than 400 grammes of gold jewellery and other valuables were stolen from a villa in Samaha, almost 50 km from Abu Dhabi City, last Tuesday.
Abu Dhabi: More than 400 grammes of gold jewellery and other valuables were stolen from a villa in Samaha, almost 50 km from Abu Dhabi City, last Tuesday.
Police have launched an investigation.
Pazhat Ramesh and his wife Usha left home as usual at 7am on January 29 but returned in the evening to find their house had been burgled. Among the other items stolen were a digital camera and two watches. The Indian couple, who work for a private company in Dubai, live in a portion of the villa shared by seven other families.
"We usually leave home by 7am and are back by evening. But people belonging to the other families are usually present in the villa.
"The intruder seems to have used a duplicate key to get into the house because the lock was intact. We found it hard to open the door and realised that something is wrong because the cupboards were left wide open and valuables were missing.
"It is necessary that people know about these kinds of crimes so that they are more careful with their flats," Ramesh said.
The intruder also broke into the home of an Egyptian family but no valuables were taken. Police was immediately notified and a case was lodged at the Al Rahba police station.
CID officials and forensic experts have gathered details from the scene.
