Such gossip is a security threat, Dahi says
Dubai: The widespread rumours in foreign media about Dubai's economy are aimed to dismantle its reputation for its industrious achievements, said the chief of Dubai Police during a conference.
Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, chief of the Dubai Police, was participating in an international conference on industrial security in the Middle East held at the Intercontinental hotel, Festival City.
During the conference, Dahi spoke about the strategic plan of Dubai Police and their achievements in curbing crimes on all levels.
Security threat
"The recent rumours are a security threat to the country, which is affecting Dubai's reputation globally. It is building up so as to prevent Dubai from becoming a place that is lucrative and industrious to western standards," he said.
With regards to politics in the Middle East, he said "there is no safety and security indications in politics but only interests. Conflict of interests in the political arena always finds its way among nations and its people, which affect the stability of the region."
He pointed out the Israeli -Palestinian conflict saying it continuously gives birth to hatred and vengeance.
"Israel's rejection to coexist peacefully with its neighbours is a major historical catastrophe. The insistence of Jews to eliminate Palestinians from existence and to terminate the Palestinian cause will only lead to major reactions beyond expectations in the Middle East. This will also contribute to forming [resistance] organisations more vicious to state security than it is now," he said.
