Room-mate finds man with rope around neck
Sharjah: Police yesterday arrested two men accused of murdering a man at workers' accommodation in Industrial Area 13.
Police found the victim lying on the floor in his room with a rope tied around his neck and within 24 hours they were able to apprehend the two suspects.
The Indian victim, who is believed to be in his 30s and was identified as Sam Bal, was discovered by one of his room-mates who went to investigate after the man failed to show up for work. The door was locked from the inside.
Colonel Mohammad Rashid Bayat, Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Sharjah Police, said: "The victim's room-mate jumped through the window and found the body on the floor."
Colonel Bayat said suicide was ruled out as the victim had been tortured and beaten.
Bruises
"It seems the victim was tied up as a plastic rope was found beside him. Bruises were evident on his face and rope marks were found on his legs, as well as a piece of cloth that was tied around his neck," he said.
The victim was discovered to have been an infiltrator. The case has been referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution.
