Police arrested three people involved in stealing valuables from villas in Al Rashidiya, Dubai.
Dubai: Dubai Police arrested a gang of three Colombian men for stealing from villas in various emirates.
Dubai Police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID), arrested the gang, which came to the UAE to commit crimes.
On February 7, the gang robbed a residential villa, which belonged to European national G.W. in Al Rashidiya. The gang stole a small locker which contained passports of his family members, some documents and large quantity of gold jewellery.
G.W. told police that he had left the rear door of his villa open which allowed the gang to gain entry into his house. They messed up all the rooms and carried the locker with them after wrapping it in a bedsheet.
Later the CID team was able to identify the Colombian gang and tracked them to one of Sharjah's hotels.
On February 13, the team coordinated with Sharjah Police and raided the residence of the gang at 5am, and recovered stolen goods and currencies of various countries. The suspects confessed to committing a number of thefts. Police found the stolen items buried in a sandy area in Rolla.
The suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution.
