Manager says he used master keys so accomplices could take away goods

Sharjah: Police on Wednesday arrested a gang of four men who allegedly store valuable items from various warehouses worth more than Dh2.2 million.

A senior official at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) formed a team after a Chinese woman lodged a complaint about a series of thefts from a warehouse in Industrial Area 3 which belonged to her company.

During the investigation, the CID identified a Pakistani suspect and arrested him from his home in Sharjah. The suspect admitted committing the theft at the warehouse with the help of two other Pakistanis, in collaboration with the warehouse manager.

The manager of the warehouse initially denied the charge, but upon confronting him with the first suspect's confession, he confessed that he had exploited his position and used the master keys to open the main entrance to the warehouse so that his accomplices could transfer and load the stolen goods on to a truck.

"The suspects sold the stolen items to other Pakistani suspects without any receipt and documents. We then arrested the buyers and restored the goods from the warehouse located in the industrial areas," said the police official.

Surveillance cameras

Sharjah Police have warned companies that their employees may be tempted to participate in such crimes and have urged companies to use surveillance cameras to monitor their activities in their facilities and to connect their security cameras with the Operations Room at Sharjah Police.
