One dead and three hurt as apartment catches fire
According to the police, the fire erupted at around 2pm in an apartment at the eighth floor in Al Tahira tower in Al Nahda, Sharjah.
Sharjah: One person died and three of a family sustained injuries in a fire that broke out on Tuesday in an apartment, police said.
According to the police, the fire erupted at around 2pm in an apartment at the eighth floor in Al Tahira tower in Al Nahda, Sharjah.
According to civil defence the four family members are of Palestinian nationality.
One person identified as M.A.K, 65, died after being suffocated in the fire and the three other family members sustained moderate to minor injuries and were taken to Al Qasimi hospital.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire which could have occurred due to a short circuit.
The Civil Defence team doused the fire in less than an hour and prevented it from reaching other apartments.
