Dubai: A Filipina nanny landed behind prison bars for sneaking into her employer's bedroom and stealing Dh21,000 from her handbag, ruled a court.
The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the 21-year-old nanny to two years in jail. Presiding Judge Saeed Salem Bin Sarm who pronounced Tuesday's verdict said the accused will be deported after serving her imprisonment.
Records said the 27-year-old Indian female employer accused the Filipina of robbing her money after she suspected her behaviour and found in her closet money transfer receipts to the Philippines.
The Public Prosecution charged the accused, R.S., with stealing money from her employer, T.A.
The victim said in her statement that she had known the suspect for sometime because she baby-sits her children. "She walked into the bedroom and stole Dh21000... she also took Dh50,000 from my purse," T.A. testified.
