Ras Al Khaimah: An Emirati man died in an horrific road accident in the remote area of Adhan in Ras Al Khaimah on Wednesday.

The victim, in his mid-twenties, crashed his vehicle into the roadside barrier and the vehicle overturned several times, said a senior officer from the Traffic and Licensing Department.

The police could not initially identify the victim as he did not have an identity card or driving licence with him at the time of the accident, said the officer.

The victim was speeding and could not control the vehicle at a curve and crashed, said the officer.

The police contacted the owner of the vehicle after noting down the registration; and later identified the victim.

An investigation has been initiated and the Public Prosecution will soon authorise the handing over of the body to the victim's family.
