Men jailed in Dubai after fight ends in death
Four men have been jailed for beating up their housemate who later bled to death in his bedroom, and also for injuring his brother.
Dubai: Four men have been jailed for beating up their housemate who later bled to death in his bedroom, and also for injuring his brother.
The men, all Kenyans, will have to spend two years and three months in jail before being deported, as sentenced by the Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday.
Court records cited prosecution witnesses as saying the defendants, J.M. and R.K., both 26, and B.K. and J.N., both 25, brutally beat the Kenyan brothers. They then carried them into a bedroom where the younger brother, B.M., a waiter, later died of his injuries.
The elder brother testified: "I went to spend some time at my brother's place in Satwa, where he shares a villa with some Kenyan bachelors. We had some drinks. My brother's roommate, S., passed by, greeted us and went to sleep around 2am. B.K. joined us for a drink, although he was already drunk. B.K. asked my brother not to call him a certain name, and then slapped him.
"Then he went to his room and returned with the rest of the suspects. They assaulted my brother and me. They kicked and punched us really badly."
