Ras Al Khaimah: A man died on Wednesday in an accident on Al Fillayah Road after his car overturned and burst into flames after hitting a parked heavy vehicle.
According to Major Juma'a Kanfash, who heads the Accidents Planning Section at the Traffic and Licensing Department, the 21-year-old Emirati victim was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
He said the Emirati lost control of his car and hit the heavy vehicle, which was parked in front of a petrol station. The victim's car overturned several times and caught fire. Major Kanfash said the main reason for the accident was speeding.
Major Kanfash said once the accident was reported to the authorities, police patrols, rescue vehicles and firefighting vehicles moved to the scene. Firefighters put out the blaze that destroyed the car.
A total of 38 people of different nationalities have lost their lives in road accidents in Ras Al Khaimah since the beginning of the year.
