Ajman: Ajman Police have nabbed a drug dealer who is alleged by police to have been planning to traffick a large quantity of illicit drugs among residents, Colonel Saeed Humaid Nasser, director of the Anti-Narcotics Department of Ajman Police, said yesterday.

The suspect identified as M.A., an Asian national, was arrested after Ajman Police’s Anti-Narcotics Department received a tip-off about a man in possession of drugs.

The police recovered 1,295 pills but did not identify what kind of illegal drugs were seized.

The suspect has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further action.

Col Nasser urged parents to constantly monitor the company their children keep.

He said co-operation between the various police departments in the UAE play a significant role in maintaining security and helping arrest those posing a risk to society.

“We have aborted many plans of drug dealers in promoting drugs in the UAE and many drug dealers who target young boys have been arrested,” the official said, adding that anti-narcotics departments in the UAE are “working hard to ensure the safety of the society and arresting the drug dealers before they are able to affect the younger generation”.
