Jobless man denies stripping in flat and threatening to kill woman
Prosecutors charged the 37-year-old Bangladeshi man with trespassing into the house of the Uzbek secretary, A.S., cursing and threatening her and breaking her vase. He also allegedly threatened to kill her.
Dubai: A man has denied stripping off in a secretary's house in an intoxicated case and threatening to have sex with her roommates if she did not process a visa for his friend.
Prosecutors charged the 37-year-old Bangladeshi man with trespassing into the house of the Uzbek secretary, A.S., cursing and threatening her and breaking her vase. He also allegedly threatened to kill her.
When the jobless suspect, M.A., appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday, he pleaded guilty to consuming six cans of beer and denied the other charges.
One of A.S.' roommates, 25-year-old Russian, L.J., testified: "The suspect sneaked into the flat through the door, which was unlocked… he shouted and seemed drunk. He went into a room, then came out in his underwear. As he spoke to A.S. over his phone, I heard him saying: ‘I will have sex with your roommates if you don't come to the flat now.' I also heard him threatening and cursing her."
A Yemeni policeman said A.S. told police that M.A. threatened to kill her.
"A patrol headed to the building where the claimant stayed… we spotted the suspect shouting. I asked A.S. to lure the suspect to come down. When he came down, she said that he was the one who threatened to kill her and defamed her as well," said the policeman.
When Presiding Judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad levelled the charges against M.A., the defendant pleaded not guilty to all counts except for consuming liquor.
A verdict will be heard next week.
