Jail term for visitor who forced maid into prostitution upheld
Ten-year jail term for a visitor, who forced a penniless housemaid to sleep with 20 men in one day for money, has been upheld.
Dubai: Ten-year jail term for a visitor, who forced a penniless housemaid to sleep with 20 men in one day for money, has been upheld.
Dubai Court of Appeal upheld the verdict and incriminated the 25-year-old Bangladeshi.
The Court of First Instance had convicted him of violating the Human Trafficking Law No. 51 of 2006.
The visitor was charged with beating, threatening and forcing the Filipina maid into prostitution after locking her up in a flat.
The Filipina victim testified: "I came to work here as a housemaid and instead the accused detained me in a flat where he forced me to sleep with five or six men a day for Dh50 each. One day I was forced to sleep with twenty men without getting a penny for myself. He used to take away the money. They forced me and other girls to have sex with men in four different flats."
She said one of the girls helped her to go to the police and report the crime.
