Sharjah: An Indian worker allegedly stabbed his colleague to death on Friday evening following a heated argument over Dh10, Sharjah Police said on Monday.

The incident took place at a labour accommodation in Al Saja'a Industrial Area at around 5.30pm, eyewitnesses said.

They told police that the Indian victim, B.K. Janesh, in his early 30s, was stabbed in the back with a kitchen knife. Police found the victim in a pool of blood and the suspect was also drenched in blood.

Fingerprints

A witness told police that the victim and the suspect worked in the same construction company for five years. They were in the kitchen when a dispute broke out over money.

The suspect, identified by police as Malisham K.A., 29, was upset that Janesh did not pay the Dh10 - his share of the payment for a cooking gas cylinder.

After investigations, police confirmed that the victim was stabbed once with a large kitchen knife and that the fingerprints of the suspect matched those on the knife.

The suspect was arrested and the case was referred to the Public Prosecution in Sharjah.
