Girls in prostitution probe
An Arab mother is being questioned by the Public Prosecutor for forcing her two daughters into prostitution in Sharjah, police told Gulf News on Sunday.
Sharjah: An Arab mother is being questioned by the Public Prosecutor for forcing her two daughters into prostitution in Sharjah, police told Gulf News on Sunday.
Police said on Sunday that the Iraqi mother is being detained at Sharjah Central Jail for forcing her two teenager daughters into prostitution.
According to police the daughters aged 17 and 12 filed a complaint against their mother at Al Buhaira police station a few days ago for forcing them into prostitution.
Police said that the two girls approached police to rescue them from being forced into prostitution.
The young girls told police that they live in the Al Nahda area with their mother.
"Our mother rented a studio in a building in an area away from our home," the 17-year-old girl told police.
Afraid
"Our mother used to take me to this studio which is only one room and she used to bring men to have sex for money with me," the girl told police.
The girl said to police that she and her sister are afraid and have no place to go. Police did not give details on how long the family have been here and how long the mother had been forcing her daughters to sleep with men for money.
"I have doubts that those girls are this cruel woman's biological daughters. It is impossible for a mother to do that with her own daughters," a senior police official said. Police said the case was transferred to Sharjah Public Prosecutor for further investigation.
In a separate case, an Iraqi woman accused her Iraqi husband and his first wife for forcing her in to prostitution.
The woman, who is the man's second wife, told police that her husband and his first wife had been trying to force her into prostitution.
"I am his second wife. We got married and he brought me here. I thought it was a real marriage but after coming here I discovered that he and his first wife wanted to force me into prostitution," the woman said.
The accused have been jailed at Al Hira police station in Sharjah.
