Scores of families here have complained to the police about youths harassing pregnant women in the area around Shaikh Zayed Mosque in Khuzzam.
Ras Al Khaimah: Scores of families here have complained to the police about youths harassing pregnant women in the area around Shaikh Zayed Mosque in Khuzzam.
The youngsters throw firecrackers in the vicinity of the women, leaving them shocked and frightened. The offenders then record their victims' reactions on their mobile phones and circulate the images and videos via bluetooth.
This particularly spacious area near the mosque is considered an ideal place for pregnant women to have a walk to make their deliveries quicker and easier. Women often do so prior to being admitted to hospital for delivery.
The youths approach the area in groups and throw firecrackers used to celebrate Ramadan and the approaching Eid Al Fitr.
Visitors to Ras Al Khaimah have confirmed that the youths harass pregnant women.
They urged the authorities to take a serious stand against those who violate the code of conduct in such a way.
