Father loses custody of daughter
A father has lost custody of his young daughter due to a lawsuit by the maternal grandmother who claimed that he had harassed the child.
Dubai: A father has lost custody of his young daughter due to a lawsuit by the maternal grandmother who claimed that he had harassed the child.
Custody has been transferred to the maternal grandmother.
The Dubai Sharia Court of Cassation considered the father's confession to his doctor that he is mentally ill and has failed to control his behaviour with his daughter, because he suffers from anxiety and nervousness.
Guardianship
The grandmother lodged a guardianship lawsuit against the father accusing him of being an incapable father. She alleged that he harassed his daughter and drew immoral images for her.
The complainant stated that the young girl's father was married to her daughter for a few years until their divorce because he married another woman.
A court had earlier granted him custody of the child. The young girl was with him for some time, before the grandmother found out that he was harassing the child.
The Sharia Court of Appeal earlier dismissed the grandmother's lawsuit, but she appealed the ruling to the highest court in Dubai.
