Dubai: A Bangladeshi farmer who stole one and a half million dirhams from the trader he worked for, have been arrested six hours after the incident.

Police have recovered the entire amount.

A police official said Dubai Police's Operations Room had received a report from an Indian trader in Al Garhoud about his house being robbed while he was out with his family.

The trader told police that he had kept the money in a plastic bag and hid it among clothes in a wardrobe in the bedroom.

The police official said the Bangladeshi farmer, who was not sponsored by the trader, worked for him on a temporary basis and was paid Dh1,000 monthly.

The police traced the farmer by contacting one of his relatives who works at Al Aweer vegetable market. The relative guided them to the farmer's accommodation where he was arrested at 2am and the entire amount was recovered.

The farmer told the police he stole the money to take revenge on the trader because he did not pay him his financial dues for months.
