The First Security Group (FSG), which started functioning in November last year, is expected to employ several thousand personnel in a year's time.

The opening ceremony was held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel under the patronage of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister, and was attended by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

"We are planning to expand in many security fields to help enhance the private security business in Dubai," Major General Sharafuddin Al Sayed Mohammad Hussain, the group's chairman, said.

He said Dubai was expanding and there was a need for private security in the emirate. The group is able to despatch qualified guards and mobile patrols. Major General Abdul Aziz Mohammad Al Bannai, a member and CEO, said a training centre would be built at the University City in Dubai.

The company provides a comprehensive range of services in areas relating to corporate and industrial security. It can carry out assessments of potential risks to critical business data and can also assess whether confidential information can be accessed.

FSG teams are dispatched to investigate potential investment opportunities or cases of fraud and corruption. The teams liaise with banks and other financial authorities if necessary.

The group can also provide training on all aspects of commercial or monetary fraud and identity theft, which includes fraudulent passport use or people misrepresenting themselves.

It also deals in trademark registration, copyright protection, debt collection and psychometric assessment.

The group comprises Chairman Major General Sharafuddin Al Sayed Mohammad Hussain, Vice-Chairman Major General Nasser Al Sayed Abdul Razzak, member and CEO, Major General Abdul Aziz Mohammad Al Bannai, executive members Major General Esmail Abdullah Al Gergawi and Major General Jumaa Amman Obaid.
