Dubai: A female college student has been cleared of consuming hashish after she was arrested partying at a Dubai villa due to lack of evidence.

The 24-year-old Emirati student earlier pleaded not guilty. Her lawyer Eisa Bin Haidar told the court the law enforcement procedures were unlawfully implemented on his client.

"She was arrested without a warrant... besides she is innocent."

An anti-narcotics police captain said she was among a group caught dancing, drinking and consuming drugs.

He claimed in his statement to the Public Prosecution: "An informant tipped off the anti-narcotics police that a suspect, S.A., had rented a villa which he used, along with his friends to consume drugs in. The informant tipped us off that S.A. planned to throw a birthday bash."
