Dubai policeman denies rape and kidnap charge
A policeman has denied raping a woman in the desert after he enticed her into his car because he wanted to erase her pictures from his cell phone.
Dubai: A policeman has denied raping a woman in the desert after he enticed her into his car because he wanted to erase her pictures from his cell phone.
The 24-year-old Emirati policeman pleaded not guilty to kidnapping his 23-year-old compatriot and raping her in Al Aweer.
The woman claimed that her pictures were on the suspect's mobile phone because there was talk of them getting married.
The Public Prosecution charged the suspect with luring the woman into his car, undressing and having sex with her against her will before dropping her off in the Mirdif area. He was additionally charged with threatening her with a knife when she tried to escape.

The woman testified: "The suspect started calling me after he got my contact number from someone who had earlier passed me his own number. He constantly called me because we were getting acquainted to marry. I forwarded him my photo to show it to his parents. Later I asked him to delete the photo... one day he picked me up from work to tell me something important and delete the picture. He forced himself on me. He beat me and I bled after the rape. Later I phoned and asked him to rectify his mistake by asking my parents for my hand in marriage."
She reported him to the police after he avoided her.
In his police statement, the suspect claimed: "Once she asked me to pick her up because she had family problems... she asked me to drive to a far away and safe place where she asked to have sex with me. Later she accused me of raping her."
